Fight for light: energy workers showed the destroyed transformer as a symbol of resistance to the energy terror

The damaged power transformer has been operating at one of the DTEK Odesa Grids substations for almost 30 years, providing power to more than 10,000 customers in the Odesa district of the region. After the night enemy attack in March 2025, it was burning until the very morning, and after such damages it became unrepairable. The transformer was relocated from the damaged substation to the Kulykove field in Odesa to demonstrate the consequences of each russian attack on the civil infrastructure that our energy workers are fighting.
“Today, we honor all heroes, who defended our land in the past century and are defending it today. The exhibition of destroyed machinery is a striking reminder of the fact that the enemy always wants one thing – to destroy us. Nevertheless, our response stays the same too – resistance, internal unity and tenacity. I am grateful to the military, SES, energy workers, medics and every resident of the Odesa region, who contributes to the victory,” – commented Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa RMA.
Despite the full-scale war and shelling, energy workers are working as a single harmonic mechanism. After each enemy attack, they make titanic efforts to restore power supply to hospitals, boiler houses, water service company’s facilities and people’s homes as soon as possible.
“The exhibit includes a power transformer weighing 35 tons that burned to the ground after recent attack. I saw the damage of power facilities with my one eyes — it is colossal. Its complete restoration requires a lot of time. However, energy workers of the Odesa region are working as a harmonized mechanism in order to restore electricity to residents, infrastructure and business as soon as possible. During the full-scale invasion, we have restored 52 damaged power facilities to the operating state, 7 of which — after massive attacks in 2025. We are ready to further stand on guard of light for the sake of Ukrainians and the victory. Trust in the energy workers!” — added Dmytro Hryhoriev, CEO at DTEK Odesa Grids.
Let us remind that in March, energy workers of DTEK Odesa Grids restored power supply to 175,000 families, left without electricity due to enemy attacks.
