2025 Eco Summary of DTEK Grids DSO: ISO 14001, decarbonization and over 2,000 tons of waste to recycling

In 2025, DTEK Grids DSO confirmed their compliance with the international standard ISO 14001, thus certifying the efficient environmental management system, responsible for waste management and implementation of solutions to reduce the environmental impact. International auditors TÜV Austria Cert Gmbh and Gcerti Ko., LTD highlighted the systematic approach to collection of waste, support for biodiversity, participation in public initiatives and development of the ecoculture in the company. This is an important step towards European integration and compliance with sustainable development standards.

“During the war, Ukrainian environment is also being hit. In these conditions, every initiative to preserve the environment is worth double. We continue to improve the grids, responsibly manage waste, support environmental protection projects and develop the environmental culture within the company. When people understand why it is important, as all actions are compiled into a large, shared result,” — noted Olena Potapenko, head of the environmental safety division at DTEK Grids.

For 14 years, the company has been developing a separate collection system: 65 new containers have been installed over the course of a year, with the total number exceeding 2,000. 2,350 tons of scrap metal, oil products and tires have been forwarded for recycling. In 2025, five new shielded sites for safe waste storage were built, 4,815 LED lamps were installed and 193 oil circuit breakers were replaced with vacuum ones.

DTEK Grids DSO take part in public environmental initiatives: within the framework of the “Precious Plastic” project, 296 kg of caps have been collected, and over the course of five years — 1,244 kg of plastic have been sent for recycling. The company supports regional greening initiatives — 258 trees and bushes, as well as 4,000 saplings were planted in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions in 2025.

In 2026, environmental programs will continue in the city of Kyiv and in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Donetsk regions, wherever the security situation permits.
