Why you should not rest and fish under the power lines — DTEK Odesa Grids explains

Power lines in the Odesa region may pass along the coastline of the sea or estuaries that Odesans and residents of the region choose for leisure. Energy workers remind the following: staying under the power lines is life-threatening. What should you pay attention to in order not to put yourself or others in danger of electrocution, — DTEK Odesa Grids explains.
Why you should not rest and fish under the power lines — DTEK Odesa Grids explains

Security zone around the power lines is from 2 to 40 meters in both directions. You must take it into consideration when choosing a place for fishing or leisure, and you should not stay directly under the power lines or close to them.

Human life is of the highest value. We care about safety of residents and guests of the Odesa region; therefore, we stress the following: every power line has a security zone, which covers a land plot underneath it and air space around it. Staying in this zone is dangerous,”underscored DTEK Odesa Grids.

It should also be kept in mind that not only touching the wires and other elements of the power lines is life and health threatening. Electrocution is possible during unsuccessful casting of wet cord or fishing line, for example. Additionally, you should not fly kites near the power lines: the cord may contain metal or carbon fibers that are good conductors of electricity.

Take care about yourself and your loved ones: follow simple rules and choose sites for leisure at the safe distance from the power lines.
