Why can the power outage during application of shutdown schedules last over 7 hours? – DTEK Dnipro Grids answers

Thermal power generation22 January 2026
Latest enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure of the Dnipropetrovsk region caused major damage to all key links of the energy system. Schedules of stabilization shutdowns are the only tool that makes it possible to maintain operation of the energy industry and provide electricity to families and businesses. However, the current situation requires NEC Ukrenergo to give command to DTEK Dnipro Grids to limit electricity for more customers than usual. Thus, time without electricity may exceed 7 hours.

The volume and duration of shutdowns are related to the ratio between the volumes of produced electricity and its consumptionas well as to the technical ability to supply it to all customersJanuary enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure caused major damage to power generationelectricity transmission and distribution facilitiesAt the same timeheat supply facilities have been damaged tooforcing families to use electrical heaters more often and longeras the air temperature since January 10 is holding at the mark of -10 degrees or below.

This coincidence of factors forces NPC Ukrenergo to give commands to all Distribution Systems OperatorsDTEK Dnipro Grids in particularfor stricter limitations of power consumptionIf before the New YearDSO received commands to limit 3-4 lines of consumersthis figure now reaches 4.lines – which corresponds to 75% of population and enterprises.

Under such conditionsit is impossible to evenly supply available electricity to all residents of the region, while maintaining the “hours without electricity and 3.with electricity” modeThereforefor DTEK Dnipro Grids to provide electricity to the homes of all its customers in turnsit has to extend application of the grey zone of the power shutdown schedule.

Energy workers are doing everything possible to return to the usual duration of power shutdown schedules and not to exceed the hours without electricityThey also ask residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region to muster patience and endurance to jointly avoid destruction of the energy system

Important! Please use electricity efficiently after its restoration and do not turn on powerful electrical appliances (electric heatersboilerselectric stovesetc.) simultaneously in order to avoid a repeat overload of the grid and new power outagesThis is especially important during the period of low temperatures and high load on the grids.

You can check your schedule in our Telegram or Viber chatbot, as well as on the energy company’s website.
