Why can the power outage during application of shutdown schedules last over 7 hours? – DTEK Dnipro Grids answers
The volume and duration of shutdowns are related to the ratio between the volumes of produced electricity and its consumption, as well as to the technical ability to supply it to all customers. January enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure caused major damage to power generation, electricity transmission and distribution facilities. At the same time, heat supply facilities have been damaged too, forcing families to use electrical heaters more often and longer, as the air temperature since January 10 is holding at the mark of -10 degrees or below.
This coincidence of factors forces NPC Ukrenergo to give commands to all Distribution Systems Operators, DTEK Dnipro Grids in particular, for stricter limitations of power consumption. If before the New Year, DSO received commands to limit 3-4 lines of consumers, this figure now reaches 4.5 lines – which corresponds to 75% of population and enterprises.
Under such conditions, it is impossible to evenly supply available electricity to all residents of the region, while maintaining the “7 hours without electricity and 3.5 with electricity” mode. Therefore, for DTEK Dnipro Grids to provide electricity to the homes of all its customers in turns, it has to extend application of the grey zone of the power shutdown schedule.
Energy workers are doing everything possible to return to the usual duration of power shutdown schedules and not to exceed the 7 hours without electricity. They also ask residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region to muster patience and endurance to jointly avoid destruction of the energy system.
Important! Please use electricity efficiently after its restoration and do not turn on powerful electrical appliances (electric heaters, boilers, electric stoves, etc.) simultaneously in order to avoid a repeat overload of the grid and new power outages. This is especially important during the period of low temperatures and high load on the grids.
