DTEK Dnipro Grids will restore one of the damaged substations with the help of the transformer from USAID

DTEK Dnipro Grids received a transformer from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) via the Energy Security Project (ESP). With the new energy equipment, energy workers will be able to restore one of the substations in the Dnipropetrovsk region, damaged by the large-scale shelling of the energy infrastructure in late 2022. This will allow to improve reliability of power supply for almost 2,000 customers.

The energy system of the Dnipropetrovsk region constantly suffers from consequences of russian attacks. In December 2022 in particular, massive enemy strikes on the energy infrastructure caused burning out of the transformer in one of the substations of the region. International donors provided humanitarian aid for energy workers to restore operation of this power facility.

We thank our international partners for the new 2.5 MVA transformer. It will help us put one of the damaged substations of the Dnipropetrovsk region into operation, thus improving quality and reliability of power supply to almost 2,000 customers who were connected to the backup power circuits. In particular, it will reduce the risk of power outages for schools and kindergartens, making it possible to ensure normal educational process,” – noted DTEK Dnipro Grids CEO Andrii Tereshchuk.

Since the beginning of the full-scale rf’s invasion, DTEK Dnipro Grids energy workers have repaired 550 damaged power facilities in the Dnepropetrovsk region, however, equipment continues to suffer damage again and again. The company needs further international support to repair all damaged power facilities.
