DTEK Dnipro Grids saves on electricity thanks to the digital cleanup
DTEK Dnipro Grids supported the environmental campaign for digital cleanup. During the month, employees of the company deleted almost 2 terabytes of digital “trash” from their devices and cloud storages, making it possible to save 986 kWh·of electricity per year, which would be enough for four years of operation of the A++ class refrigerator. Cleanup of gadgets also made it possible to reduce CO₂ emission by 493 kg – which is approximately equal to a trip in the gasoline-fueled car from Dnipro to Paris.
“Digital cleanup is a simple but efficient step to reducing the carbon footprint. And though one file seems to be a little thing, within the scale of the company it makes terabytes of data that consume energy on a daily basis. By deleting the redundant files, we do not just free the memory space, but also reduce consumption of resources, continue service life of equipment and reduce the load on the ecosystem,” — commented DTEK Dnipro Grids CEO Andrii Tereshchuk.
Digital cleanup is directed at reducing the volume of digital trash — obsolete documents, duplicates of photos, spam in the email, unnecessary apps, accumulating in the memory of devices, consuming energy and, thus, increasing CO₂ emissions.
DTEK Dnipro Grids plans to make digital cleanup a routing practice among employees and urges other companies to join the “Let’s Do It Ukraine” initiative, which unites millions of people every year.
