On November 21-22, wet snow accumulation, rain and ice-covered ground left 96 settlements in the Kyiv region completely without electricity and 168 – partially. 131 overhead lines and 2,800 transformer substations have been damaged. Bad weather caused most of the damage to Brovary, Vasylkiv, Kyiv-Sviatoshyn and Obukhiv energy centers.

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has engaged 75 crews to promptly eliminate emergencies on the grid, caused by the storm, and restore electricity to residents of the Kyiv region.

Electricians have already restored electricity to 34,000 families in 39 completely de-energized and 66 partially de-energized settlements.

By the morning of November 22, 57 settlements remain completely de-energized and 102 — partially. Wind gusts have caused complete de-energization of 60 and partial de-energization of 26 power lines of 6-10 kV, as well as 1,400 transformer substations. The crews continue to work in order to restore electricity as soon as possible.

First, specialists restore power to socially significant facilities, such as hospitals, industrial enterprises, large areas with the largest number of de-energized buildings and apartments. Also, a priority is given to the repair of 35-110 kV high-voltage lines, which power most customers, then to 6-10 kV lines. When high and medium voltage power facilities are restored, company’s specialists will proceed to 0.4 kV lines that directly feed customers' homes.

We ask everyone to remember about safety rules — stay away from bare wires, broken lines, open doors and hatches of electrical installations, and damaged poles. In case of power failure, please inform us about it via convenient remote services:

Meanwhile, we remind that in accordance with NPC Ukrenergo order, stabilization power cutoffs are applied in the Kyiv region on November 22 in compliance with the schedule available on the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids website. Therefore, before notifying the company about an emergency outage please check schedules of stabilization power cutoffs first.
