Eco initiatives: DTEK Dnipro Grids continues “green” transformation
Within the framework of the environmental and educational project #EnergyWings, energy workers helped ornithologists ring 56 white stork chicks. For the third year in a row, ringing of storks is being conducted in the Dnipropetrovsk region in cooperation with the Western-Ukrainian Ornithologists Community. The project is a part of the international initiative of the Polish Ornithologists Community “Małopolskie Towarzystwo Ornitologiczne” related to preservation of this bird, symbolic for Ukraine.
DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists also relocated 14 stork nests to safe reinforced platforms. In spring, after the storks returned, the majority of all installed nests in the Dnipropetrovsk region have been inspected, 90 % of them appeared to be settled in.
DTEK Dnipro Grids complies with the certified environmental management system ISO 14001. An initiative for separate collection of waste continues at the enterprise – over 100 containers have already been installed. In the first half of the year, 5 new containers were added. Energy workers handed over more than four hundred tons of waste to the specialized enterprises for recycling, including 324 tons of scrap metal, 38 tons of tires, 60 tons of oil products and almost 32 tons of accumulator batteries.
The company continues to support the international project “Precious Plastic”. In 2025, 41 kg of caps were handed over to volunteers, the funds from which will go for fabrication of the FPV drones. In 2021, energy workers of DTEK Dnipro Grids collected a total of 365 kg of plastic and handed it over for recycling.
In the first half of 2025, employees implemented a number of environmental and social initiatives, which became an example of corporate responsibility and internal unity.
In April, the company joined the World Digital Cleanup Day, during which 2 TB of digital trash was cleared, thus making it possible to save almost 1,000 kWh of electricity and reduce CO₂ emission by 500 kg.
On June 5, the World Environmental Protection Day, employees together with the city authorities cleaned a Monastery Island in Dnipro, using kayaks to remove almost 1.5 cubic meters of garbage from the coastline and the water area.
Additionally, energy workers continue to support the “Pegasus” animal shelter, providing animal foodstuff, medicine and other necessary things for more than 900 rescued animals.
DTEK Dnipro Grids continues to integrate eco principles into all aspects of its activities, thus demonstrating responsibility to society and nature.
