Eco initiatives of DTEK Odesa Grids – the company continues “green” transformation

In the first half of 2025, DTEK Odesa Grids continued systematic implementation of eco initiatives, directed at reducing environmental impact, improving energy efficiency and preserving biodiversity. In the second half of 2025, the company plans a recertification audit of the environmental management system in compliance with ISO 14001.

As part of the project #EnergyWings, DTEK Odesa Grids energy workers relocated 42 stork nests to safe reinforced platforms in the first half of the year. In spring, when the storks returned to Ukraine, specialists inspected some of the nests, located on the platforms, and its settlement level amounted to 98 %. 

The company also joined an international initiative of the Polish Ornithologists Community Małopolskie Towarzystwo Ornitologiczne”, which is being implemented in Ukraine in cooperation with the Western-Ukrainian Ornithologists Community. In 2025, DTEK Odesa Grids specialists helped ring 50 white stork chicks. Over the three years of the company’s participation in this initiative, a total of 121 nestlings have been ringed. 

An initiative for separate collection of waste continues at the enterprise a total of nearly 700 containers are being used, and it is planned to install 20 more by the end of the year. 

In the first half of 2025, DTEK Odesa Grids handed over the following for recycling:  

  • 210.4 tons of scrap metal, 
  • 5.2 tons of tires, 
  • 4.6 tons of accumulator batteries, 
  • 3.6 tons of electronic equipment, 
  • 8 tons of reinforced concrete poles for reuse. 

The company also continues implementing the “Precious Plastic” initiative. Within the framework of this project, active in the company since 2023, the collected caps are being handed over to the workshop to be used for fabrication of useful things – protective eye shields for the military, pendants, stands, furniture and other items. In 2024, the enterprise handed over 150.6 kg of caps. 

In April, the company joined the World Digital Cleanup Day. DTEK Odesa Grids employees deleted 965 GB of digital trash, allowing to save electricity and reduce CO₂ emission. 

In the second half of 2025, it is planned to install energy efficient equipment at the enterprise: over 400 vacuum circuit breakers in place of oil ones, over 50 transformers that do not require oil, as well as 9 gel batteries. DTEK Odesa Grids continues to integrate eco principles into all aspects of its activities, thus demonstrating responsibility to society and preserving nature.
