Energy invincibility: energy workers of the DTEK Grids DSO eliminated 16,000 damages of lines since the beginning of the full-scale war

Over the course of three years of the full-scale war, energy workers of the DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators repaired almost 6,500 power lines, damaged by shelling. On average, the specialists had to repair each line more than twice due to the repeating russian attacks*. Nevertheless, our energy workers are ready to repair the grids again and again, to ensure that Ukrainians have electricity at home.

Since February 24, 2022, energy workers of the DTEK Grids DSO restored operation of a total of 6,477 power lines and 987 substations, transformer and distribution points in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Kyiv regions and in the capital. This is 98% of all power facilities that suffered destruction due to russians’ criminal actions. The other 2% are impossible to repair yet due to the security situation and lack of required equipment.

“Despite constant danger, our energy workers continue to restore power supply after each enemy attack. Some power lines had to be brought back to life after shelling dozens of times. Though it is exhausting, difficult, depressing – our specialists are motivated by every illuminated home, every operating hospital and school, every working business. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, energy workers of the DTEK Grids DSO restored electricity to more than 17 mln customers**. For three years in a row, we have been demonstrating invincibility and readiness to do everything possible for stability of the energy system,” – noted DTEK Grids CEO Alina Bondarenko.

Energy workers commence works on the damaged grids only upon permission of the military and SES. However, our enemy is insidious, and the crews may come under fire at any time anywhere. Unfortunately, over the course of three years of the full-scale invasion, 2 energy workers of the DTEK Grids DSO were killed during restoration of electricity to Ukrainians, another 20 employees were wounded.
