DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids energy workers collected over 17 tons of waste on the World Cleanup Day
As part of the World Cleanup Day that unites over 210 countries every year in the fight against environmental contamination and pollution, energy workers of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids carried out a large-scale cleaning of the territories near the critical infrastructure facilities. The support of this global initiative complies with DTEK’s Sustainable Development Strategy and UN Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine.
In September 2025, employees cleaned almost 12,000 square meters of the territories near substations, distribution points and offices of the company, while collecting and removing 17 tons of household and other waste. 321 employees joined the event, underscoring high environmental awareness and responsibility of the team.
“It is important for us to not only ensure stable power supply in homes but also care about the environment. War presents new challenges for the country and nature every day, but we cannot postpone environmental matters for later. Participation in the World Cleanup Day is our contribution to the future when a conscious attitude towards environment is a norm. When our colleagues unite for this goal, we together form the culture of responsibility and care that the entire country needs,” — noted Vitalii Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
World Cleanup Day 2025 in Ukraine was traditionally organized by the eco movement “Let’s Do It Ukraine”, which is a part of the Global Movement “Let’s Do It World”. This initiative has already united 114 million people in 211 countries, who make joint efforts to clean the planet from solid household waste. Such events not only improve the state of the environment but also form ecoculture and increase awareness about sustainable development.
