DTEK Grids energy workers collected over 150 tons of waste on the World Cleanup Day
As part of the World Cleanup Day that unites over 210 countries every year in the fight against environmental contamination, DTEK Grids energy workers carried out a large-scale cleaning of the territories near the critical infrastructure facilities. The support of this global initiative complies with DTEK’s Sustainable Development Strategy and UN Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine.
In September 2025, employees of Distribution System Operators (DSO) cleaned over 152,000 square meters of territories near substations, distribution points and offices of the company, while collecting and removing 153 tons of household and other waste. 3,400 employees joined the event, underscoring high environmental awareness and responsibility of the team.
“Today, environmental awareness is not a trend but a need. We are living in the conditions of a full-scale war, which inflicts a devastating blow to the environment on a daily basis. Nevertheless, even in these realities, we do not stop caring about the environment. Participation in the World Cleanup Day is our way to contribute to a cleaner future, not postponing the care about environment for “later”. It is such cohesion around common values that forms a culture of responsibility in the society,” — noted Olena Potapenko, head of the environmental safety division at DTEK Grids.
World Cleanup Day 2025 in Ukraine was traditionally organized by the eco movement “Let’s Do It Ukraine”, which is a part of the Global Movement “Let’s Do It World”. This initiative has already united 114 million people in 211 countries, who make joint efforts to clean the planet from solid household waste. Such events not only improve the state of the environment but also form ecoculture and increase awareness about sustainable development.
