Almost 7,000 repairs in the distribution grids are conducted without power shutdowns, – DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids
Top European countries are using the method of live line works on energy equipment and power lines, and 2021, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has been gradually implementing it too. From January to August this year, energy workers conducted 6,941 repairs in the 0.4 kV grids (overhead power lines and metering cabinets) without power shutdowns for the customers.
“By conducting works using an advanced live line works method, we ensured that repairs are carried out without any discomfort for people – electricity is still provided to homes even during these works. We have good results on the 0.4 kV lines, where we work with a limited number of sets – an average of 219 works conducted per set. We will further invest in training of specialists and advanced equipment for our customers to get reliable and sophisticated service,” — noted Vitalii Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
Training energy workers to perform live line works lasts up to three months. It is held at the special training yards. To ensure safe work performance, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids provides employees with protective overalls and special equipment: rubber gloves, hard hats, dielectric mats and other means. In 2025, 182 employees mastered this method of works on the distribution grids. A total of 1,144 specialists of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids can work using this method.
The company gradually expands the list of works that can be carried out without power shutdown for the customers and plan to upscale this approach in the future.
