Since February 24, 2022, electricity has been restored to homes of almost 1.5 million residents.
Electricity restored to almost one and a half million residents of the Kyiv region: 1,000 days of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids tenacity

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, enemy actions caused damage to more than 3,000 power facilities of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids in the Kyiv region. This includes complete destruction, when lines or substations had to be built a new, and partial damage, when company’s equipment suffered from fragments of missiles, drones, MLRS or shockwave. Since the beginning of 2024 alone, energy workers restored operation of 27 power facilities of various voltage class and 328 km of lines, damaged due to enemy actions.

Over the course of 1,000 days of the full-scale war, we have restored power to almost 1.5 million customers. And we will keep restoring it as long as it is required. As we understand that electricity in the region is a basis for normal life and tenacity for further resistance. During this time, energy workers, whose work was often taken for granted before the war, became true heroes, who restore electricity to our homes every day. This contribution to the life of the region will forever remain an example of tenacity and devotion, noted DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids CEO Vitalii Shaida.

During this time, energy workers of the Kyiv region learned to work in extreme conditions – even under fire and in the area of active hostilities. During the first months of the full-scale invasion, when some areas of the region were occupied, and others saw fierce battles, energy workers were restoring power supply, wherever possible, often to the whizz of shells and projectiles. They managed to mobilize and go through two hardest heating seasons in the history of the region and they are ready to do that again.

Even when the enemy manages to damage our grids, we continue to provide electricity to families, businesses, schools, hospitals and other important facilities in the Kyiv region. This became possible due to the unique service schedules of stabilization power shutdowns. They allow fair distribution of scarce kilowatts and planning everyday lives under any circumstances. Thus, specialists of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids are constantly working to improve the schedulesand since August 20, a clear daily schedule of shutdowns without light-grey zones is available to the customers on our website and in the DSO Viber and Telegram chatbots.

Understanding that mobility in the conditions of war is a very important aspect of life, we actively develop remote customer services. Despite all difficulties, over the past 1000 days, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids expanded chatbot featuresyou can get information about the cause of power outage, file a request for its restoration, schedules of shutdowns. The “Agreement online” service on the company’s website provides an opportunity register electricity distribution documents.

The war did not make energy workers give up their professional dream having a sophisticated grid in the Kyiv region. Therefore, even in the wartime conditions we continue to not just repair and maintain equipment, but also upgrade it. Thus, 67 power facilities and 250.6 km of power lines were upgraded in the Kyiv region over these 1000 days.
