We are working – you have electricity: the number of live line works on the grids has increased by a quarter, – DTEK Grids DSO
Live line works — is an advanced technology that allows energy workers to perform repairs and maintenance of the grid without de-energization of the customers. During such works, energy workers are working with complete electricity insulation — using special protective overalls, dielectric gloves, insulated tools and equipment, and performing works on special insulated platforms.
All operations are clearly regulated and practiced at the training yards, thus making it possible to ensure safety of personnel while not interrupting power supply to families and business.
This year, DTEK Grids DSO already completed almost 7,000 live line works on the 0.4 kV overhead lines in the capital and in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions, which amounts to almost 60% of all works on such voltage class.
“This approach becomes a new standard for energy workers. In 2025, DSO already completed 27,500 live line works on 0.4 kV, which is 25% more than the year before. In particular, more than 98% of tasks on the metering boards are already being performed without power shutdowns. Additionally, there is a crew working in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which is the only one in Ukraine that can perform such works on the 6–10 kV overhead lines,” — tells DTEK Grids CEO Alina Bondarenko.
DTEK Grids Distribution Systems Operators plan to further upscale this approach to minimize inconveniences for the customers even during the difficult repairs.
