Minimizing effect on the environment: how DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids introduces ESG principles
DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids introduces environmental initiatives, which correspond to the UN sustainable development goals and ESG principles.
International standard ISO 14001 is in force at the enterprise, ensuring systematic approach to arrangement of business processes while meeting the principles of environmental safety.
In 2024, energy workers were replacing oil filled equipment, making it possible to avoid using oil and creating oily waste.
DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids replaced 3,276 old lamps with the modern LED ones, thus reducing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency of its offices and industrial premises.
Due to the principles of circular economy, the DSO reduces the volume of industrial waste. In 2024, the company handed over almost 370 tons of scrap metal for recycling, thus reducing the environmental footprint of the enterprise.
Energy workers continue to implement the environmental and educational project #EnergyWings, directed at preservation of white stork as an important part of the Ukrainian ecosystem. 20 platforms for stork nests were installed in 2024.
Additionally, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids implements environmentally safe system of waste sorting and recycling. Six new containers for sorting of waste were installed in 2024, and its total number reached 222.
Employees are actively engaged in the environmental initiatives. In 2024, within the framework of the “Precious plastic” project, 134 kg of caps from PET bottles were handed over for recycling to be used for manufacturing of benches, chairs, accessories, etc.
In 2025, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids will continue developing environmental initiatives, reducing effect on the environment and introducing even more solutions for sustainable development.
