Reliable electricity in winter: DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids prepared key power facilities in the Kyiv region for the heating season
Within the framework of the repair program, specialists have already repaired and tested over 3,100 kilometers of power lines, upgraded 1,000 power facilities – substations, transformers, as well as cleared almost 3,000 kilometers of routes from the shrubs. This will improve reliability of grids operation during the period of maximum load.
In parallel, an investment program, directed at upgrading key power facilities of the Kyiv region, is being implemented. In particular, 45 substations and distribution points were reconstructed, including replacement of accumulators, renewal of load-operated actuators, reconstruction of telecontrol systems and installation of the automatic under-frequency load shedding systems.
For instance, three 10 kV distribution points were reconstructed in Bucha district, thus providing residents with more stable and high-quality power supply. Almost 5 km of the 0.4 kV overhead lines were renewed in Vasylkiv district with installation of new load shedding transformer substations. A modern type of insulation was used during the reconstruction, providing better protection of the grid from the impact of weather conditions.
“Despite the targeted enemy strikes on the energy infrastructure, we continue to do everything possible for the Kyiv region to go through this winter with electricity. Our specialists are working daily to prepare grids and equipment for any challenges. The company has already invested a total of more than UAH 740 mln in preparation for the autumn-winter period,” – noted Vitalii Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
All these measures will allow to create a required safety margin for the grids and ensure stable operation of the Kyiv region’s energy system during the cold season.
