DTEK upgraded almost 300 power facilities and 4,000 km of lines in the Kyiv region in order to prepare the grids for winter

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids continues to prepare the Kyiv region for the upcoming winter. Energy workers, in the conditions of wartime, have already upgraded 278 important power facilities and 3,712 kilometers of power lines. Together these measures will improve reliability of power supply during the heating season. This was stated by the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids CEO Vitalii Shaida during a press-briefing.

Preparation for the upcoming winter is ongoing in the Kyiv region. Headed by the regional government, all services are preparing the infrastructure for all possible challenges in order to ensure that residents of the region have access to the essential services, as well as to electricity and heating. DTEK energy workers, in their turn, are preparing the grids in the Kyiv region for winter. They have upgraded 278 power facilities of various voltage class, repaired and tested 864 cable lines, repaired 3,712 kilometers of power lines and cleared 3,112 kilometers of lines from shrubs. The current state of the distribution grid allows to provide all customers with stable power supply, providing there will be no new enemy attacks on the energy system of the country.  

“DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids is a foundation and support for normal life of the region and our customers. We engage all available internal resources to pass the next winter and complete the repair program. Moreover, we have created a backup emergency stock and formed 238 crews that are ready to restore power supply after emergencies 24/7. We are working to protect our key facilities as much as possible. Our energy workers are ready to promptly restore power supply and provide electricity to all residents of the region,” – summed up Vitalii Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids. 

By the end of the year, Distribution System Operator will upgrade 110 more power facilities, repair 1,988 kilometers of lines and clear 1,199 kilometers of the overhead routes along power lines from the shrubs. 

For customer convenience, the company has also improved service channels and increased number of the call center’s telephone lines from 120 to 185. In the event of crisis situations and during the peak load hours, DSO will additionally engage up to 34 operators per day. However, the company underscores that in order to promptly get information and services there are convenient remote online service channels functioning 24/7 – official website and Viber and Telegram chatbot.
