DTEK upgraded over 750 power facilities and 2,000 km of lines in the Odesa region in order to prepare the grids for winter
Preparation for the upcoming winter is ongoing in the Odesa region. All services, headed by the regional government, are preparing the infrastructure for all possible challenges in order to ensure that residents of the region have access to the essential services, as well as to electricity and heating.
“Previous winter was extremely difficult for the Odesa region. We made our conclusions and we put every effort to make sure that residents of our region are able to receive essential services in any circumstances. Most of the critical infrastructure facilities are equipped with generators – 97% of boiler houses, 99% of hospitals and 86% of water supply and drainage facilities already have backup power sources. We are moving towards 100% completion,” – underscored Anton Shalyhailo, director of Life Support and Energy Efficiency Systems Department at the Odesa RMA.
DTEK energy workers, in their turn, are preparing the grids in the Odesa region for winter. They have upgraded 756 power facilities of various voltage class in Odesa and the region, tested 1,072 cable lines, repaired over 2,000 kilometers of power lines and cleared another 1,500 lines from shrubs. The current state of the distribution grid allows to provide all customers with stable power supply, providing there will be no new enemy attacks on the energy system of the country.
“DTEK Odesa Grids is a foundation and support for normal life of the region and our customers. We engage all available internal resources to pass the next winter. Moreover, we have created a backup emergency stock and formed 206 crews that are ready to restore power supply after emergencies 24/7. We are working to protect our key facilities as much as possible. Our energy workers are ready to promptly restore power supply and provide electricity to all residents of the region,” – summed up Dmytro Hryhoriev, CEO at DTEK Odesa Grids.
By the end of the year, Distribution System Operator will upgrade 126 more power facilities, test 174 cable lines, repair 249 kilometers of lines and clear 370 kilometers of the overhead routes along power lines from the shrubs.
For customer convenience, the company has improved service channels and increased number of the call center’s telephone lines from 150 to 287. In the event of crisis situations and during the peak load hours, DSO will additionally engage up to 65 operators per day.
