Despite frequent shelling DTEK has restored electricity to 66,000 homes of Ukrainians
Over the past week (July 18 through 24), specialists of DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators have restored operation of the grids, damaged due to hostilities, for 66,000 families in 91 settlements of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Odessa regions.
The most difficult situation remains in the Donetsk region, where fierce battles are underway. Missile strikes, air assaults and artillery shelling destroy infrastructure of the grids every day. Just last week, DTEK energy workers have restored electricity to more than 58,000 residents of the region in 80 settlements of Bakhmut, Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk districts. Many homes require restoration of electricity almost every day.
Frequency and intensity of shelling that causes damage to the grids have increased in Dnipropetrovsk region as well. Energy workers had to restore operation of the grids in Nikopol and Kryvyi Rih districts of the region five times last week. Overall, energy workers have restored power to 6,000 families in 9 settlements of the Dnipropetrovsk region over the course of a week.
Last week, infrastructure of the grids in the Odessa region got damaged as well. DTEK Odessa Grids specialists have promptly restored electricity to almost 2,000 homes of regions’ residents.
DTEK energy workers are working non-stop for 151 days in a row and together with all other services are doing everything within their power to provide electricity to the homes of Ukrainians.
Let us recall that in May energy workers have completed restoration of power supply to the residents of districts in the Kyiv region that suffered from occupation. Preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.
Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region. Second stage of the grids restoration is ahead – restoration of the backup power supply that will help ensure reliable power supply to towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities. In perspective of 2022-2023, it requires investing another UAH 600-700 mln.
The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it as per the plan and needs of residents of the region.
