Advanced technologies – to the future energy workers: DTEK Dnipro Grids gave a tour of the training yard for students

During the tour of the specially equipped training yard, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists showed all stages of electricians training to the students. From checking of protective equipment and mandatory briefing to performing live line works, which allow performing repairs without power shutdowns for the customers. Energy workers hone their knowledge on lines and equipment in as real as possible conditions.

We have been long and fruitfully cooperating with Dnipro Polytechnic. For the youth, which is just acquiring professions, it is very important and useful to see the work of energy workers in real conditions. Learning “in the field” which leading advanced technologies, machinery and equipment are used. This allows students to acquire unique experience, which cannot be acquired in the classrooms. And I am happy that even during the full-scale invasion our enterprise has an opportunity to share the knowledge, based on the daily practice, with future energy workers. As the Ukrainian energy industry needs new talented and professional personnel more than ever,” – noted Andrii Tereshchuk, CEO at DTEK Dnipro Grids.

Such career guidance events are among the areas of the Memorandum of Cooperation between DTEK Dnipro Grids and NTU “Dnipro Polytechnic”, which involves combining efforts to improve quality of education and staffing of enterprises of the Ukrainian energy industry. A university-based DTEK innovation hub is already available to the energy industry students, while students of the last years of study can undergo practical training at the enterprise under the dual education program*. Currently, 10 students of the specialized higher education institutions of the region take part in the program.

*DTEK Dnipro Grids “Dual Education” project is designed for students of 3-4 years of study in a specialty “Energy industry”. Currently, 2 specialized higher education institutions take part in it: NTU “Dnipro Polytechnic” and Kamianske Energy College. The participants are getting an education in accordance with special system, where 60% is designated to theory, and 40% – to practice in the field. Over the past 5 years, 88 students completed the training. More than half of them – 51 students – got a job in the company.
