DTEK Grids DSO cleaned over 141,000 sq. m of territories as part of the World Cleanup Day

Despite the war and daily work to repair the grids after enemy attacks, energy workers of DTEK Grids DSO traditionally supported the World Cleanup Day. Energy workers cleaned territories near substations, distribution points, production sites and administrative buildings in the city of Kyiv, and in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions.

In September 2026, 1,881 employees of the Distribution System Operators joined this eco initiative. Together, they cleaned over 141,000 square meters of territories – which is equal to 20 football fields and collected 68 tons of waste.

“Every day, our energy workers provide electricity to homes, hospitals, schools and enterprises. In addition, we also take care of the environment of communities where we live and work. Therefore, participation in the World Cleanup Day has already become a tradition for DTEK Grids DSO. Even in the difficult times of war, we continue to support important eco initiatives and use our own example to demonstrate responsible attitude towards the environment,” – noted Olena Potapenko, head of the environmental safety department at DTEK Grids.

Participation in the World Cleanup Day is a part of DTEK Grids’ systematic work in the field of environmental responsibility, and it supports UN Sustainable Development Goals. For the fourth year in a row, employees take part in the event. Such initiatives help make communities cleaner, form a culture of caring for the environment and unite people around common goal.

World Cleanup Day is one of the world’s largest environmental campaigns, which unites millions of people every year to clean the environment and promote responsible handling of waste.
