DTEK Grids DSO are speeding up installation of smart meters: more than third of all customers have already received it
Smart meters are a part of an Automated Commercial Electricity Metering System (ACEMS). They submit readings to the DSO on their own, allow dispatchers to track consumption in real time and help detect emergencies or overloads in the grid faster.
In 2025, specialists managed to increase the pace of such devices’ installation – more than 209,000 homes in the capital and in Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions received their smart meters, which is 14% more than last year. Over the first two months of 2026, energy workers additionally connected more than 33,000 devices.
ACEMS implementation is conducted within the framework of the investment program, which is approved annually by the state regulator NEURC. In the multi-appartement residential buildings, the system is implemented for all residents at once — with the free of charge replacement of old meters with the new “smart” ones.
For the customers, this means less trouble with monthly submission of readings and more accurate charging. For the energy workers — an ability to faster react to the changes in the grid and improve reliability of power supply.
You can find out if a meter replacement in your house is planned this year on the following websites:
for Kyiv – on the DTEK Kyiv Grids website;
for Kyiv region – on the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids website;
for Odesa region – on the DTEK Odesa Grids website;
for Dnipropetrovsk region – on the DTEK Dnipro Grids website.
Installation of smart meters is a part of the “Grids of the Future” project on modernization of the energy infrastructure using Smart Grid technologies.
