Education for the future energy workers: registration for the online course “Energy Worker” is open

Admission to the online college “Energy Worker”, an educational project that provides new opportunities for anyone striving to start their path in the modern energy industry, started in Ukraine. The initiative is implemented within the framework of the Ukrainian Energy Initiative of the UN Global Compact in Ukraine in the partnership with DTEK Grids DSO and DTEK Academy and OPTIMA college.

The course was created to help Ukrainians get basic knowledge about the energy industryunderstand grid operating principles and determine if they are interested in continuing further development in this areaThe study is free for the first 1,000 participantsit is fully online and available to all interested individuals aged 18 and over regardless of the place of residence or previous experience. 

The energy industry is developing rapidly today — we upgrade the gridsintroduce digital technologiescreate new opportunities for young specialistsWe want Ukrainians to see the energy industry as not only stable but also uprising industry with the futureThe course “Energy Worker” will help make the first step to the professionwhich provides not only a jobbut an important mission as well — to provide people with electricity, — noted Vitalii ShaidaCEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids. 

The course program covers topics from the basics of electric engineering to practical cases of working with the gridscombining theoryinteractive videostests and real examplesThuscourse students will not only gain knowledge but will also understand how to use it in their practical work. 

Relevance of the project is also confirmed by the shortage of human resource in the industry: 97% of the employers in the energy sector indicate shortage of skilled specialistsAt the same timeonly 16% of the youth are now considering the possibility of working in the energy industry. 

Launching the online course “Energy Worker” is a continuation of the systematic work related to development of the human capital in the energy industrywhich is supported by DTEKParticipants that will show interest and willingness to work in the industry will get an opportunity to undergo internship in the Ukrainian power companiesDTEK Group in particular.
