Under fire for the sake of light: since the beginning of 2024, energy workers of DTEK Donetsk Grids restored operation of almost 1,900 power facilities
The enemy does not stop attacking peaceful Ukrainian towns and villages in the Donetsk region with drones, missiles, air bombs and artillery. Including destruction of power facilities. Since the beginning of the year, DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists repaired almost 879 kilometers of power lines of various voltage class, damaged due to hostilities. The overhead power lines are the ones destroyed by shelling most often. They suffer from direct hits, falling of fragments of shells and drones. Energy workers had to repair some of them on dozens of occasions. A “record holder” line on one of the hottest directions in the Donetsk region was repaired by energy workers more than 30 times over 8 months.
“Dozens of various voltage class lines are being damaged in the Donetsk region every day. We continue to do everything possible to restore the energy infrastructure, often close to the frontline and under fire. Since the beginning of the year, we restored electricity to homes of 2 mln residents of the region*. We are doing everything possible to provide residents of the region with electricity even in the conditions of constant shelling,” – the company noted.
DTEK Donetsk Grids energy workers are doing everything possible to eliminate damage as soon as possible. They commence works immediately after obtaining permission and access to the site of damage from the AFU and SES. However, their work remains dangerous. Since the beginning of the year, restoration crews came under fire nearly 20 times. 6 energy workers were wounded.
