Preparation for winter: DTEK Dnipro Grids built and upgraded 41 power facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region
Energy workers are actively preparing the region’s grids for the autumn-winter period. They replaced obsolete equipment with the modern one, upgraded sections of cable and overhead lines, installed new telecontrol and remote-control systems.
“We are already at the final stage of preparing the grids in the Dnipropetrovsk region for the autumn-winter period. In addition to the routine maintenance, we are carrying out replacement of old equipment with the new one. In particular, we renewed equipment at five high-voltage substations, installed 19 new power PTS, upgraded telecontrol and remote-control systems in 15 distribution points. We have also completed reconstruction of 38 km of power lines and built two digital radio relay lines that provide reliable connection between power facilities. Since the beginning of the year, we have already invested over 837 mln hryvnias in renewal and upgrade of the energy infrastructure,” – told DTEK Dnipro Grids CEO Andrii Tereshchuk.
One of the key objects was upgrading one of the 35 kV substations in Kryvyi Rih. Energy workers basically built a new energy junction with advanced equipment and remote-control system in place of an old facility, making it possible to improve reliability of power supply for nearly 5,000 city residents.
Additionally, DTEK Dnipro Grids is finalizing renewal of two important power lines in Dnipro. Reconstruction of the 6.4 km-long 35 kV overhead-cable line is ongoing in the central part of the city – this will allow to stabilize power supply in the Nahirnyi district. Laying the new 9.2 km-long cable line on the Left bank in place of the obsolete overhead line is nearing completion. After completion of these activities, over 9,000 consumers – residents of Pidhorodne and residents of the part of Dnipro – will have a more reliable and safer power supply.
Besides, 25 advanced reclosers (circuit breakers that help quickly localize damage in the event of emergencies and reduce the number of de-energized customers) were installed on the 6–10 kV lines.
All these measures together with scheduled repairs allow DTEK Dnipro Grids to create the required safety margin before the start of the heating season and make the region’s grid more reliable and manageable.
