Preparation for winter: DTEK Kyiv Grids have already repaired 327 power facilities of the capital

In the times of war, DTEK Kyiv Grids is doing everything possible for the residents of the capital to have heat and power supply in winter. In particular, it carries out scheduled repairs on the power facilities and implements grids upgrade projects.

Thus, since the beginning of 2024, the company has already repaired 323 substations and distribution points of various voltage class, 16 kilometers of the overhead power lines, cleared more than 65 kilometers of routes under the power lines from shrub and completed modernization of 4 distribution points.

Due to application of schedules of stabilization shutdowns, power equipment is wearing out and failing faster, therefore the volume of required investments increases.

While preparing for the heating season, we continue to invest in stability of the grids and develop them. In particular, since the beginning of the year, we have already invested more than UAH 60 mln in repairs. We plan 35 modernization and upgrade projects for this year, in which we have already invested UAH 404.2 mln. By the end of the year, we will additionally direct more than UAH 525 mln for repair and development of the capital grids,” – noted DTEK Kyiv Grids CEO Denys Bondar.

Energy workers also continue replacing obsolete meters of the region’s residents, which service life is expiring. They are replaced with the “smart” meters. In particular, energy workers have already replaced more than 22,000 of them in the first half of the year and plan to replace over 16 more thousand meters with the new ones by the end of the year.

In order to ensure the most efficient preparation for the 2024-2025 heating season, DTEK Kyiv Grids also urges service companies of the multi-appartement houses – housing offices, condominiums, managing companies – to inspect and, if possible, modernize their equipment (circuit breakers, fuses, wiring, switchboards, etc.), conduct required maintenance and eliminate possible malfunctions.
