Preparation for winter: DTEK modernized three high-voltage substations in Kyiv
DTEK energy workers have replaced electrical equipment at three high-voltage substations in the capital with modern and more powerful one. They have upgraded power transformers that exceeded their service life and were morally and physically obsolete. Besides, they have modernized feeder cubicles, replaced old oil circuit breakers with more environmental-friendly – vacuum ones, installed surge arrestors, reconstructed relay protection system, etc.
“DTEK Grids is creating an infrastructure for rebuilding of Ukraine and recovery of economy. We are developing smart grids to be used as a foundation for resurrection of Ukrainian cities – new, modern, “smart”. Thanks to the modernized substations, we have reduced emergency risks on the eve of winter and improved reliability of the 110 and 10 kV grids that power 247 high-rise buildings, 21 schools, 27 kindergartens in Pechersk, Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi, Shevchenkivskyi districts and on the Left bank,” – underscored Denys Bondar. CEO at DTEK Kyiv Grids.
Modernization of substations was carried out with the funds of the company’s Investment program. Overall scope of investments in upgrades was almost 200 million hryvnas.
