Plus 824 energy-independent Ukrainians since the beginning of the year: how to properly connect SPP to the grid
In order to arrange an SPP for your house, you should purchase solar panels and an invertor, as well as find an organization that will install all equipment.
When selecting equipment, it is important to check if it complies with technical requirements for SPP connection. Inventor should be of the same capacity as your house. Therefore, check your contractual capacity and determine if it is enough for your household needs. You can determine the optimal capacity for the household with the help of the calculator, available in the section “Connection to the grids” on the DTEK Grids DSO websites, – just select appliances that you usually switch on simultaneously.
Additionally, you can purchase an accumulator to manage the produced electricity. For example, if the system produces more electricity during daytime than the house consumes, excess can be accumulated in the accumulators and sold or consumed later.
Then, contact your distribution system operator:
1. Submit an application for connection of the power generating installation. DTEK Grids DSO provide an opportunity to do this in the personal user account on the website without visiting the service center. The list of required documents is also available there.
2. Arrange the single-line circuit. This can be done by an installation company or you can do it by yourself.
3. If you need capacity higher than the one registered in the electricity distribution agreement with the DSO, submit an application for increase. DSO provide an opportunity to simultaneously order both capacity increase and SPP connection. In this case, you will receive technical specifications to be fulfilled.
4. Install a two-way meter. It can be purchased at your DSO. This is important for metering electricity consumed and transferred to the grid.
5. After payment is credited, DSO specialists will install the two-way meter, as well as check the metering junction, compliance of the connection circuit and ability of safe parallel operation with the grid.
6. After that, changes will be immediately introduced to the distribution point passport, and in the event of capacity increase – there will be an updated agreement with the DSO.
To sell the excess of electricity produced, please contact the supplier to conclude a corresponding agreement. If you install SPP for private household with capacity up to 30 kW, have right of property for the household and the land plot, direct agreement with the DSO, are directly connected to its grids – you can connect the “green” tariff. Otherwise, purchase and sale of electricity is possible through “self-production”* mechanism.
* In accordance with the Procedure for sale and metering of electricity, produced by active consumers, and paying for it, the price of electricity purchase by the supplier through the “self-production” mechanism amounts to the price on the “Day Ahead” market, but cannot exceed the price, used for electricity supply to the consumer.
