What should be done with the electricity meter during home renovation, – tells DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids

During a major renovation of your home, a need may arise to change the wiring, replace a circuit breaker or relocate an electricity meter. All these works require interference with the meter operation. In order to do it safely and correctly, please order the unsealing service from DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.

To relocate or reconnect the electricity meter, it must be unsealed. The seal is a guarantee of meter integrity and its correct maintenance by the energy company. Therefore, in accordance with the legislation, only DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids is authorized to remove it. Besides, attempting to disconnect the meter by yourself may cause short circuit or malfunctions.

When do you need to unseal the meter?

  • When you change the wiring and there is a need to reconnect the meter.
  • When you replace a circuit breaker located before the meter.
  • When the meter itself needs to be relocated: energy workers will unseal the device, and you will be able to relocate it in accordance with the design documentation.

After completion of renovation, the energy company must seal the meter again and confirm its operability. If you will manage to complete the required repairs within 10 minutes, our energy workers may perform unsealing and sealing within a day. In this case, electricity will remain available in your home. If these requests will be processed on different dates, then without a seal there will be no electricity.
