Light despite the attacks: how Odesa region went through the 2024/25 heating season

Despite the war and massive enemy attacks on the power facilities, residents of the Kyiv region went through the heating season with electricity. This was achieved due to the systematic preparation for winter, automation of processes and coordinated work of the DTEK Odesa Grids energy workers. The total amount invested in repairs and development of the grids is almost UAH 1.3 bln.
Light despite the attacks: how Odesa region went through the 2024/25 heating season

Over the past year, DTEK Odesa Grids invested almost 1.3 bln hryvnias in reconstruction and construction of power facilities. In particular, the Distribution System Operator built and repaired over 1,600 km of overhead and cable lines, upgraded 1,200 power facilities, cleared over 2,100 km of power line routes from branches and drywood, as well as created an emergency stock of fuel and materials. Due to these large-scale activities, energy workers were able to prepare for the autumn-winter period in a quality manner and provide electricity to homes of Odesans and residents of the region.

“We understand the importance of reliable power supply for the residents of the Odesa region. Therefore, despite the challenges of war, we direct all resources to enhancement of the grids in order to fulfil the region’s need in sustainable and reliable energy system. In 2025, we plan to repair 2,200 kilometers of the overhead lines, upgrade 848 power facilities, install over 60,000 smart meters. The amount invested in repairs and development of the grids in 2025 is UAH 1.4 bln,” — noted Dmytro Hryhoriev, CEO at DTEK Odesa Grids.

Throughout winter, the enemy continued attacking the energy sector of the Odesa region. Specialists have restored electricity to homes of 1 million families. Seven large power facilities of DTEK Odesa Grids suffered significant destruction, repair activities are still ongoing there.

Energy workers’ efforts to restore electricity during the heating season were highly valued by the state – 164 energy workers of the company received state and industrial awards, as well as certificates and letters of gratitude from local authorities.

The company continues to develop remote services, with Viber and Telegram chatbots being the most popular ones. 86% of our customers have already used them.
