The light stays on: energy workers of DTEK Dnipro Grids repaired almost 9,700 km of power lines over the course of 4 years
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists restored electricity to homes of more than 9 mln families. Often — on multiple occasions, as the same lines have to be repaired again and again due to repeated damage. Every field trip means working in the conditions of increased danger, after obtaining permission from the military and SES, knowing that the threat can recur at any moment.
Over the course of four years, more than 158 mln hryvnias were directed at repairing damaged equipment alone. Today, nearly 150 crews go to the sites of damage on a daily basis to eliminate consequences of attacks and restore power supply in the region.
“The light stays on thanks to the people – their courage, tenacity and professionalism. For as long as four years, our energy workers have been working under fire to maintain life in homes, hospitals and schools. Behind every restored facility is their daily hard work and readiness to restore power supply again and again, despite all challenges,” — noted DTEK Dnipro Grids CEO Andrii Tereshchuk.
During the full-scale war, 1 energy worker of the company was killed while performing his professional duties, another 10 employees were wounded.
Four years of the great war proved: energy infrastructure can be targeted, but its resilience is determined by the people. The light stays on thanks to the energy workers.
