The light stands: energy workers of DTEK Grids DSO repaired more than 30,000 km of power lines over the course of 4 years
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, company’s specialists restored electricity to more than 39.5 mln Ukrainians. Often — on multiple occasions, as the same lines have to be repaired again and again due to repeated damage. Every field trip means working in the conditions of increased danger, after obtaining permission from the military and SES, knowing that the threat can recur at any moment.
Over the course of four years, almost 691 mln hryvnias were directed at repairing damaged equipment alone. Today, nearly 600 crews are working to eliminate consequences of attacks and restore power supply. Every day, they go to the sites of damage in Donetsk, Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk regions and in the city of Kyiv.
“For four years in a row, our energy workers have been proving that the light stays on thanks to the people. Thanks to their tenacity, professionalism and readiness to work even where it is dangerous. Every illuminated home, every hospital or school with power supply is a result of their daily work,” — noted DTEK Grids CEO Alina Bondarenko.
During the full-scale war, 2 energy workers of the company were killed while performing their professional duties, another 42 employees were wounded.
Four years of the great war proved: energy infrastructure can be targeted, but its resilience is determined by the people. The light stays on thanks to the energy workers.
