The light stays on: energy workers of DTEK Odesa Grids restored electricity to every home more than 5 times over the 4 years of war
Over the course of the full-scale war, the enemy attacked energy industry of the Odesa region on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, today there is not a single electricity transmission substation in the region that was not damaged. The number of strikes has increased significantly over the past year, as the enemy changed its tactics and now attacks electricity distribution facilities almost every night. The result is a colossal damage to 45% of large DTEK Odesa Grids substations that ensure electricity transmission from Ukrenergo substations to the customers’ homes in Odesa and Odesa region.
“However, every time after the attack, upon permission of the emergency services and the military, our crews go to work: raking up rubble, assessing consequences, establishing temporary circuits, performing repairs to restore operability of the equipment. Over the course of 4 years, we repaired 2,200 km of power lines and restored electricity 5.4 mln times. I.e., we have restored electricity to every home at least 5 times. We understand the importance of our work, so we continue to fight for light,” – underscored Dmytro Hryhoriev, CEO at DTEK Odesa Grids.
Over the course of four years, the company directed almost 165 mln hryvnias on emergency and restoration inventory. Today, over 200 crews in the Odesa region are working on elimination of consequences of attacks and restoration of power supply.
Four years of the great war proved: energy infrastructure can be targeted, but its resilience is determined by the people. The light stays on thanks to the energy workers.
