Bad weather in the Kyiv region: DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids emergency crews are eliminating consequences of the storm

Weather conditions are worsening in the Kyiv region. Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center forecasts thunderstorms in the region on August 16. Bad weather has already caused some power outages in the region. DTEK crews have been transferred to the high alert mode in order to eliminate any blackouts as soon as possible.

:00, bad weather and gusty wind have caused shutdowns and breaks of 30 lines and 706 transformer substations (TS). Most of the outages occurred in Baryshivka, Boryspil, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv-Sviatoshyn energy centers. 25 settlements were left completely without electricity and 33 — partially.

Energy workers are doing their best to restore electricity to customers’ homes. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids engaged 58 crews to eliminate consequences of the storm.

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids reminds of the following safety rules:

  • avoid staying near power lines during strong wind;
  • if you discover broken lines, please stay 8-12 meters away, never touch bare wire and inform the company immediately;
  • in case of blackouts, do not try to perform repair by yourself. If a blackout happened in an apartment or house – call an electrician, servicing your house. If there is a blackout at the entire street – contact DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists.
