Four times more works: DTEK upgraded almost 1,200 power facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region in 2024

Power facilities and power lines require constant maintenance. The grids are especially wearing out due to the overload that happens during application of shutdown schedules. In order to prevent possible emergencies and create additional assets for electricity consumption, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists repaired 1,166 km of power lines of various voltage class and 1,088 high-voltage substations, distribution and transformer points. They also cleared 3,200 km of routes under the power lines from shrubs in order to prevent breaking of wires due to bad weather.
Last year, within the framework of the investment program, DTEK Dnipro Grids upgraded more than 138 km of power lines and reinforced 96 substations, transformer and distribution points. In particular, energy workers carried out major overhaul and re-equipment of the substation in Dnipro, which powers houses and critical infrastructure facilities of the Left-bank part of the city. And in order to minimize emergency outages, they installed 35 modern reclosers on the lines. Thus, they managed to improve quality and reliability of power supply to a total of almost 120,000 families in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Additionally, energy workers replaced old meters with more than 70,800 smart ones in the customers’ homes. Such appliances automatically submit readings and allow to save 50% on electricity consumption at night due to the separate metering of electricity during the day and night hours. The meters are installed in the districts, included in the automation program.
Energy workers in the south of the region are working in the most difficult conditions of hostilities. They are mainly focused on repairs of grids, damaged by shelling. However, whenever it is possible and when the military permit, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists carry out repairs of power equipment, wherever it is critical, in order to provide local residents with electricity.
“Modern grids are the foundation for sustainable energy system and uninterrupted power supply. Therefore, even in the wartime conditions, DTEK Dnipro Grids continues to upgrade and reconstruct old power facilities and build new ones. All this – to make power supply as reliable as possible. In 2024, we invested almost UAH 1.3 bln within the framework of repair and investment programs,” – noted Andrii Tereshchuk, CEO at DTEK Dnipro Grids.
Energy workers are doing everything possible to support normal life of Ukrainians even in the conditions of constant attacks.
