How to keep the children safe from the danger of electrical current – advises from DTEK Dnipro Grids energy workers

Summer is a time of leisure, adventure and increased risks. During the holidays, children are more often left alone at home or playing outdoors. Energy workers urge to follow simple rules for the summer holidays to go without any dangerous experience

Electrical safety at home:

  • Use electrical appliances with dry hands only. Even a drop of water may cause electrocution.
  • Do not use malfunctioning sockets or devices.
  • Do not switch on devices without permission.
  • Hold the plug by its body with dry hands to remove it from the socket.
  • Switch the device off before cleaning.
  • Do not overload the sockets. A lot of devices connected to one extension cord is a risk of fire.
  • Do not leave the chargers in the socket, unless required.

Outdoors and in the places of leisure: stay away from danger

  • Do not approach the power lines, transformer substations or electric poles.
  • Do not approach the power lines with a fishing rod, it may cause electrocution.
  • Avoid the trees, which branches are touching the wires.
  • A yellow triangle with lightning is a warning of a mortal danger.
  • Never approach the broken wires. Safe distance is at least 8 meters.
  • If you are already within the zone of damage move using a goose step, while not taking your feet off the ground.
  • Inform adults or energy workers about any suspicious situation.

If you saw broken wires, damaged electric poles, open doors of electrical installations or lack of locks on the transformer substations, do not approach and call our contact center +38 (056/066/067/063) 790-99-00 or write us a message in Facebook.
