Human life and health are a main priority for DTEK. Therefore, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists remind the rules of safe leisure near electric poles in parks, forests and near water.

“When choosing a recreation site, please avoid staying directly under the power lines or near it. As, the security zone – a plot under the poles and air space on both sides of the line from the edge wires – is from 2 to 40 meters, depending on the voltage level. For sites, where the lines cross water, the recommended safe distance from edge wires is 100 meters on both sides of the line,” – noted the company.

It should also be kept in mind that not only touching the wires, but also touching other parts of the power lines is life and health threatening. Electrocution from high-voltage grids is possible even at the distance of 5 meters. The majority of modern fishing rods and wet fishing line are good conductors of electricity. Therefore, to walk with a fishing rod under the power lines is to expose yourself to danger and risk your own life. If a wet fishing line gets tangled up in the wire during unsuccessful casting of a fishing rod, it can also cause electrocution.

Specialists of the company also warn against flying kites near the power lines. As the thread may be made with addition of materials, which are good conductors of electricity.

Following simple rules of behavior near power lines will help arrange comfortable and safe leisure.
