How to avoid charging of unconsumed kWh when leaving home, – explains DTEK Dnipro Grids

The period of electricity meter readings submission to DTEK Dnipro Grids lasts from January 30 to February 3. Sharing meter data is required for the energy company to be able to calculate actual volume of electricity consumption. Otherwise, it will be determined using the average daily consumption. But what should be done in order not to pay for unconsumed electricity if you have not been living in the apartment for a while?
How to avoid charging of unconsumed kWh when leaving home, – explains DTEK Dnipro Grids

After the 3rd day of the month, Distribution System Operator must submit the volume of electricity consumed by each customer over the previous month to the provider for him to generate the electricity bill. The volume is calculated based on the meter readings, which the customer submits to the DSO during the last two days of the month and the first three days of the next one. If the energy company does not receive these data, then, in accordance with the law, it has to estimate the volume using the average daily consumption of the similar period last year.

The average daily estimation may differ from the actual consumption. Especially, if you do not live in the apartment any longer. This can cause discrepancies in charging and artificial debt. And in the event of non-paying the provider’s bills, we will have to, first, cut off electricity supply, and in 180 days disconnect the apartment from the grid. In order to avoid such situation, we suggest choosing one of two options.

The first and the most convenient one: regularly submitting readings to DTEK Dnipro Grids within the set deadline via one of the below methods:

  • web form on the website without additional authorization.

The second one: contacting DTEK Dnipro Grids for temporary suspension of power supply

To do that, please submit a corresponding request using the “Meter Services” on our website. Select “Connection or disconnection” section and press “Voluntary disconnection”. However, both the temporary suspension service and the power supply resumption service are chargeable.

DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists are doing everything to provide you with an opportunity to get all our services 24/7 from anywhere in Ukraine or the world.
