YAKTAK joined the crew of capital’s energy workers for a day
Famous Ukrainian singer Yaroslav Karpuk (YAKTAK) became a part of DTEK Kyiv Grids repair crew for one day. He helped install a platform for a stork’s nest and took part in cable line repairs in order to see how energy workers ensure reliable power supply in the capital on a daily basis.
The workday of a new energy worker began with participation in DTEK eco initiative - #EnergyWings, directed at preservation of biodiversity. The first task for Yaroslav and the crew was to install a special protective platform for a stork’s nest in the emergency condition in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. Such platforms help protect the birds from electrocution, and the grids – from emergencies that may occur due to large nests on the poles.
“It is a very interesting and useful project. It helps energy workers protect the storks from electrocution, and the girds – from emergencies. I heard about it before from fellow artists. Last year, Nadia Dorofeieva helped install a similar platform in another district of the city. This is unique experience for me. Besides, I always wanted to see a stork’s nest up close. Now, I have one more wish that came true,” – told Yaroslav.
Later, the signer joined a repair crew working at the Beresteiskyi avenue, where an overload caused damage to the power cable.
Together with DTEK Kyiv Grids specialists, the artist worked at the site of damage, helping excavate the cable line and saw how much physical effort, knowledge and responsibility this work requires. The crew promptly replaced damaged section of the grid and restored electricity to the nearby buildings.
“It is very easy to switch on light or electric stove at home. We often do this and don’t think about how much work is behind electricity being there every day. Another thing is to see this from the perspective of energy workers. This is really hard work. I felt this load with my own hands and back. And I want to thank every energy worker, who is working daily to provide electricity to our homes,” – summed up his working day with the repair crew Yaroslav Karpuk (YAKTAK).
After the workday ended, energy workers offered the artist to join the team on a permanent basis. After thanking the colleagues for the day together and new experience, Yaroslav performed several of his songs for the crew.
