Since the beginning of the year, DTEK Odesa Grids has conducted over 24,000 repairs in the distribution grids without disconnecting customers
Top European countries are using the method of live line works on energy equipment and power lines, and since 2021, DTEK Odesa Grids started to introduce it too. From January to August 2025, energy workers conducted over 24,000 such repairs in the 0.4 kV grids. These are the grids that go to the customers’ homes.
“We invest in training of our energy workers and advanced equipment for the customers to get high-quality service. We constantly modernize the grids and thanks to such method Ukrainians will not even notice us conducting repairs,” — added Dmytro Hryhoriev, CEO at DTEK Odesa Grids.
Training specialists to perform live line works lasts up to three months. It is held at the special training yards. The company provides employees with protective overalls and special equipment: rubber gloves, hardhats, dielectric mats and other means.
Meanwhile, specialists constantly improve their skill level. In particular, a workshop took place in August with participation of the company’s specialists and an invited expert – Mr. Travis Martin, CEO at the International Engineering Company “Global Energy Strategy Services Group” (Canada), which specializes in reconstruction and modernization of power plants and industrial enterprises.
In 2025, 277 employees mastered this method of works on the distribution grids. A total of 801 specialists at DTEK Odesa Grids can work using this method. The company gradually expands the list of works that can be carried out without disconnecting the customers and plans to upscale this approach in the future.
