In 2023, DTEK Dnipro Grids connected almost 300 new renewable energy facilities
After russia’s attacks on the energy system in 2022-2023, the importance of small independent renewable energy facilities increased tremendously. Having as much solar and wind power plants as possible will contribute to more energy independent and flexible Ukrainian energy system. DTEK Dnipro Grids helps create conditions in Ukraine for the growth in independent renewables and connects such facilities to the grid in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Each new connected green generation facility is a contribution to the passing of difficult winter and transformation of Ukrainian energy industry in the nearest future.
“According to the government plan for the Ukrainian energy industry transformation, capacity of solar and wind power plants in Ukraine should increase significantly by 2050. Therefore, infrastructure of the grids must ensure integration of renewables and create conditions for development of prosumers*,” - underscored DTEK Dnipro Grids CEO Andrii Tereshchuk. –Despite the war and focus of all company’s efforts on restoration of what was destroyed by the enemy, we continue our grids development projects, which will allow connecting and using green energy facilities. Our task is to create conditions for connection of such facilities and ensure reliable power supply, build a reliable, flexible and efficient infrastructure of the grids for recovery and development of the Dnipropetrovsk region.”
Over the 11 months of 2023, despite hostilities and enemy attacks, DTEK Dnipro Grids connected 298 solar power plants in the Dnipropetrovsk region with a total capacity of 32.4 MW.
Since the beginning of business activity in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the company has already connected more than 7,400 green generation facilities (solar, wind, biogas and biomass power plants) with a total capacity of 900 MW to the grids. For instance, this capacity is enough to provide the entire regional capital and the largest industrial cities – Kryvyi Rih, Kamianske and Pavlohrad – with electricity.
