Over the course of the day, DTEK Donetsk Grids managed to restore electricity to 41 settlements, affected bad weather
Bad weather does not recede. Everything around remains frozen. In order to get to the power lines, energy workers have to remove fallen trees and branches or push through the frozen trees. It is just as hard to get to the lines, located outside settlements, where the road turned into slippery glass.
Nevertheless, energy workers managed to restore operation of 713 transformer substations over the course of the day and restore electricity to 41 settlements, de-energized due to bad weather, thus restoring power to 90,800 households in the Donetsk region.
Weather conditions do not change, outages continue. Energy workers are working on restoration of power to another 81,000 households and 225 settlements.
First, specialists restore power to socially significant consumers – hospitals, waterworks, boiler houses, large areas with the largest number of de-energized houses and apartments. Also, a priority is given to the repair of 35-110 kV high-voltage lines, which power most customers, then to 6-10 kV lines. When high and medium voltage power facilities are restored, the specialists proceed to restoration of operation of 0.4 kV lines that provide power directly to customers' homes.
Bad weather is ongoing, and so do the hostilities. Energy workers will continue to work in the high alert mode until the electricity is restored wherever possible. However, we ask residents of the region to treat possible delays of restorations with understanding, as the scale of bad weather is large.
61 crews of DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists are working on restorations. We are expecting arrival of specialists of other DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators – to help facilitate restoration activities.
Additionally, please be reminded of the need to follow electrical safety rules:
