DTEK Kyiv Grids reminds: a “healthy” meter = correct electricity bills
The causes of meters malfunctioning may vary: mechanical damage, end of power components’ service life, factory defect, loosening of contacts, physical wear, etc. Application of power shutdown schedules has a negative effect on meters operation too. Malfunctioning of the metering device does not always cause suspension of power supply, but it may cause errors in estimation of consumed kWh.
To avoid this, DTEK Kyiv Grids recommends its customers, even if they have a smart meter that transmits readings on its own, to periodically check correctness of its operation.
The difference between the visually operating meter and the malfunctioning one is that when there is electricity in the building the display shows readings for day, night and total consumption in turns, as well as other readings.
If such indications as “ERROR”, “T4” (emergency zone), battery indicator (in case of time misalignment over +,- 30 min.) appear on the meter’s display, while the sum of night and day consumption does not match the total number, then the meter is malfunctioning and needs to be repaired or replaced. To do that, customers must contact DTEK Kyiv Grids as soon as possible. This can be done remotely by sending a request through the company’s website:
- Go to the “Meter Services” section on the DTEK Kyiv Grids website;
- Enter individual account number;
- Select the required service from the category “Problems in meter operation”
- File a request.
DTEK Kyiv Grids technical specialist will visit the customer to repair or replace the malfunctioning meter.
