DTEK restored electricity to more than 34,000 families, left without it due to the storm in the Kyiv region

On October 02, heavy rain and squally wind gusts up to 20 m/s left 114 settlements in the Kyiv region completely without electricity and 77 – partially, thus damaging 68 overhead lines and 1,064 transformer substations. The storm caused most of the damage to Borodianka, Vyshhorod and Makariv energy centers.

In order to promptly eliminate emergencies on the grid, caused by the storm, and restore electricity to residents of the Kyiv region, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids emergency crews were transferred to the high alert mode.

Electricians have already restored electricity to 34,090 families in 91 completely de-energized settlements and 70 partially de-energized ones.

By the morning of October 03, 23 settlements remain completely without electricity and 7 — partially. Due to bad weather, 9 power lines of 6-10 kV remain completely without electricity and 2 — partially, as well as 96 transformer substations. The crews continue to work in order to restore electricity as soon as possible.

First, specialists restore power to socially significant facilities, such as hospitals, industrial enterprises, large areas with the largest number of de-energized buildings and apartments. Also, a priority is given to the repair of 35-110 kV high-voltage lines, which power most customers, then to 6-10 kV lines. When high and medium voltage power facilities are restored, company’s specialists will proceed to 0.4 kV lines that directly feed customers' homes.

We ask everyone to remember about safety rules — stay away from bare wires, broken lines, open doors and hatches of electrical installations, and damaged poles. In case of power failure, please inform us about it via convenient remote services:

DTEK Grids is a support for cities and every Ukrainian. We maintain normal life of the residents of Ukraine.
