Four energy workers of the DTEK Odesa Grids were awarded for their personal contribution to restoration of the grids after hostilities and ensuring operation of the energy system in wartime conditions. The Minister of Energy and the head of the Odesa RMA thanked the entire staff of the company for their heroic work in the conditions of wartime in the region, and for helping restore electricity to the homes of Ukrainians in other regions, particularly in Kherson, Donetsk, Lviv, Vinnytsia and de-occupied Kyiv regions.

“We understand the challenges ahead. Nevertheless, I am sure that we will endure due to the dedicated work of our energy workers – those who bring light, those who prove every time that the enemy has no chance to destroy our energy system. Therefore, I want to acknowledge and thank each and every one of you for the work you are doing for the people,” – underscored Herman Halushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine.

In the Odesa region alone, DTEK Odesa Grids energy workers raised the energy system from the scratch six times during the previous autumn-winter period, which was the most difficult in the history of the independent Ukraine. The crews had to work under constant threat of shelling. Nevertheless, they managed to restore operation of 81 power facilities, damaged by enemy shelling. In order for doctors to be able to save lives, for business to work, for Ukrainians to be in touch with their family and friends and to be able to travel throughout the country – DTEK energy workers became one strong team that restores electricity to the homes of Ukrainians.

“I want to thank energy workers, who stand guard at the energy front 24/7. During the most difficult winter in the history of Ukraine, you made every effort to ensure operation of the top-priority critical infrastructure facilities − hospitals, boiler houses, water supply and water disposal facilities. The winter has shown that your work is extremely important and colossal. Therefore, presentation of awards is another opportunity to acknowledge our respect,” – added Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

The Certificate of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine awarded to Serhii Makarov, relay protection maintenance engineer. The breast badge “For excellence in energy industry” awarded to Oleksandr Buhra, head of the high-voltage lines repair and operation center, Stanislav Bohunov, high-voltage lines repair and operation foreman and Oleksii Hladkykh, distribution grids repair and operation engineer.

Let us remind that in April 2023, eight energy workers of DTEK Odesa Grids have been awarded with the President award “For the Defense of Ukraine”. The state award was given for courage during elimination of emergencies at the power facilities of the Odesa region and for ensuring operation of the critical infrastructure facilities during hostilities.
