Simple rules save lives: DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids reminds how to behave near power equipment

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists ask residents of the region to be extremely cautious and careful near power equipment. The company reminds that interfering with operation of electrical equipment is dangerous to health and life. One should also refrain from starting a fire under power lines, as it may cause violation of the grids operation and blackouts of entire settlements and enterprises.

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids reminds simple rules of behavior near electrical installations and equipment that can protect residents from potential hazard:

  • it is strictly forbidden to start a fire, burn deadwood, leave flammable materials and put garbage near power lines and transformer substations;
  • If you discover a broken wire, please stay 8-12 meters away not to get electrocuted;
  • if you discovered fallen, broken or sagging wires, open doors and hatches of the power installations, please do not approach them and inform the company;
  • do not approach switchboards, transformers and other power equipment, and do not try to interfere with their operation;
  • in case of blackouts, do not try to perform repair by yourself. If a blackout happened in an apartment or house – call an electrician, servicing your house. If there is a blackout at the entire street – contact DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists;
  • it is strictly forbidden to climb on the power poles, electrical equipment of transformer substations, dismantle its components, as well as open doors and hatches of this equipment; insert foreign objects into electrical substations’ vents; throw all kind of objects on the wires and insulators;
  • never build playgrounds and sports grounds, or any structures, stack firewood or straws under overhead lines and air inlets into houses;
  • do not let children play within the power lines’ protected zones and near other electrical installations, launch sport model aircrafts and fly kites near overhead lines;
  • staying near overhead and cable lines during the storm can lead to death;

Please use any convenient way to inform about any hazard on the grids:
