According to the Cabinet of Ministers, this heating season will be very difficult for Ukraine. All responsible parties should do the best they can to pass it. In order to reduce accidents rate and prepare grids in Odesa and Odesa region for the cold season, DTEK Odesa Grids will clear over 1,700 km of overhead lines from shrubs and branches in 2022. Over the eight months, energy workers have already cleared 998 km. By the end of 2022, specialists will prune deadwood along 775 km of 35-110 kV and 0.4-10 kV grids.

“DTEK Group is a responsible business, partner of society and state. The company is doing everything needed to ensure reliable operation of the electrical infrastructure of Odesa and Odesa region. Clearing routes of the overhead power lines is a part of this work. Our specialists have completed work on 103 kilometers of 35-110 kV lines and 895 kilometers of 0.4-10 kV lines. It will help avoid power outages due to fallen tree branches,” – noted the company.

In order to ensure safety of employees that prune trees, Distribution System Operator may temporarily de-energize the grids in accordance with schedules, approved by local authorities.

DTEK Odesa Grids notes that employees of the company should not be the only ones clearing routes from tree branches and undergrowth. According to the regulations, owners of green spaces and land users are the ones responsible for its preservation and proper care.

Residents of private sector should personally prune trees and shrubs on their territories and household plots. However, in order to ensure safety of such activities, they must be coordinated with schedules of temporary grid de-energization.

DTEK Odesa Grids specialists, in their turn, perform scheduled pruning of trees that grow in the security zone of overhead power lines.
