DTEK Donetsk Grids performance in May: restored electricity to more than 600,000 families in the Donetsk region

Active hostilities were underway in May and were the main cause of lines and electrical equipment damage. Last month, DTEK Donetsk Grids emergency and repair crews have completely or partially restored power to 579 settlements in the Donetsk region, thus restoring electricity to 653,588 families.

For example, service was restored to homes of 411,798 families in 264 settlements of the Donetsk region last week. Most of the past week’s connections were associated with restoration of operation of the NPC Ukrenergo’s trunk line, left without electricity due to hostilities in the region. DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists helped their NPC’s counterparts to inspect the lines and identify location and nature of damage. Due to such cooperation, repair of the damaged trunk line lasted less than a day despite the difficult situation in the region, caused by shelling.

Besides, over the course of repair most of the Kramatorsk district was energized by means of reconnection to the DTEK Donetsk Grids backup line. However, in 2 hours this backup line was damaged by shelling.

Active hostilities are underway in the region, constantly causing damage to electrical equipment and power lines. Residents of 325 settlements in the Donetsk region remain without electricity. The most difficult situation is near Sloviansk, Avdiivka, Marinka, Toretsk, Bakhmut and Velyka Novosilka. Company’s specialists are waiting for the permit from the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to perform repair of lines.

DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists are working non-stop for 96 days in a row and are doing everything possible in order to promptly restore power to settlements, affected by hostilities.

DTEK Donetsk Grids electricians together with doctors, volunteers, suppliers of essential food and medicine are doing everything within their power to support the country in these difficult circumstances.
