Hot weather creates fire hazard in the Kyiv region: DTEK reminds safety rules to ensure safety of residents and electrical infrastructure

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, an extremely high level of the fire hazard is expected in the Kyiv region on June 9-11. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists ask residents of the region to be extremely careful: refrain from starting a fire and burning deadwood, and to follow safety rules near power equipment.

Hot weather and wind gusts significantly increase the risk of fires and conflagrations. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids asks residents of the region to be extremely careful and cautious, refrain from starting a fire under power lines and not to interfere with the operation of power equipment. Beyond the risk to health and life, it can lead to large-scale fires, damage of the grids and shutdown of entire settlements and enterprises.

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids reminds about 5 simple electric safety rules that can protect residents of the region from potential hazard:

  1. It is strictly forbidden to start a fire, burn deadwood, leave flammable materials and put garbage near power lines and transformer substations;
  2. Do not approach switchboards, transformers and other power equipment, and do not try to interfere with their operation;
  3. Avoid staying near power lines during strong wind. If you discovered broken wires, please stay 8-12 meters away;
  4. In case of blackouts, do not try to perform repair by yourself. If a blackout happened in an apartment or house – call an electrician, servicing your house. If there is a blackout at the entire street – contact DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists;
  5. If you discovered fallen, broken or sagging wires, open doors and hatches of the power installations, please do not approach them and inform the company;

Please use any convenient way to inform about any emergency on the grids. The following online services can be used for that purpose:

Please use official information channels only and stay calm. We are working 24/7 to ensure reliable power supply of houses and enterprises.
